Conference Venues Where the Cape and Pretoria Meet
When at first you arrive at Kleinkaap Boutique Hotel and our selection of fine conference venues in Centurion, near Pretoria, you’ll be forgiven for a moment’s confusion, because no one could rightfully blame you for thinking that you’d just been transported to the Western Cape. Such is the authenticity and detail of our Cape Dutch architecture, ambience, and layout, which originated in and is still a principal feature of the Cape.
From the Cape to Pretoria
After the Dutch, who arrived in the Cape in 1652, had settled in properly and were able to improve on their initial rudimentary dwellings and other structures, they began to emulate original Dutch features, which they introduced into their newer, more sophisticated buildings. Distinctive Dutch gables, reminiscent of their homeland, the Netherlands, were incorporated into the simple, whitewashed cottage-style buildings, constructed mainly from locally sourced materials.
This combined style became known, recognised, and sought after as Cape Dutch architecture – a major characteristic which eventually migrated to the original homestead of what is now our Kleinkaap Boutique Hotel and conference venues, more than 100 years ago. Additionally, this link between the Cape and South Africa’s inland was instrumental in the naming of Kleinkaap, which means “little Cape” in the Afrikaans language.
Kleinkaap’s Conference Venues
Kleinkaap Boutique Hotel was inspired by South Africa’s heritage and the Cape Dutch architecture of the estate’s original farmhouse, which was carefully restored and expanded to include our gourmet restaurant, the 16th Lintel, plus our five elegant conference venues – all with names that individually and collectively typify this heritage.
